I read this book on my own when i was about 6 or so and i have to say i took it as i found it and really enjoyed it. Of course at the time we had lots of man splaining, but no word for it! I read a lot of books at that time that i understood about half of, but anyway, very interesting take on the book. There was a recent article on Madeline E in the New yorker recently and she certainly was a very unique person in many ways.
